Traditional Veterinary Care

As part of our truly holistic, integrated approach to health, all doctors at Simply Vets are qualified to practice conventional (traditional) veterinary medicine. Conventional care is always available, depending on the need of the animal as well as the preference of the owner, who will be advised on all viable options of treatments.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a safe and effective medical system that can be used on any species. Humans have been using it for over 200 years. Rather than targeting the symptoms of illness or dis-ease, homeopathy promotes the body’s natural defenses in an effort to maintain a natural, healthy, balanced system – thereby treating the underlying dis-ease cause or imbalance.

Homotoxicology

Homotoxicology is a system of natural medicine which helps to clear the body of toxins that cause DNA damage, and contribute to disease formation and progressive deterioration. This is accomplished using specific combinations of homeopathically diluted substances orally and via injections It is often used in deep seated illnesses and conditions, such as cancer and certain types of skin conditions.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of needles into very specific points in the body to produce a healing response. This treatment has been used in veterinary practice in China for centuries and is now used throughout the world. It is used as a preventative therapy as well as to treat a wide variety of ailments and conditions, ranging from musculoskeletal problems (e.g. arthritis and nerve injuries) to respiratory problems, skin problems, gastrointestinal problems, and even epilepsy.

Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture uses very small electrical currents to enhance the effects of acupuncture. This stimulates the release of the body’s own anti-inflammatory and pain relieving chemicals, and it relaxes the muscles at the site of the treatment as well as more distant locations of the body. It also improves blood flow, oxygenation and the removal of toxins from the body.

Gold Bead Implants

This can be considered a permanent form of acupuncture, whereby small gold plated magnets are implanted into the various acupuncture points to effect permanent stimulation of that point. This is used in particular for conditions requiring permanent or ongoing treatment, or pain relief such as hip dysplasia, spondylosis or epilepsy.

Electromagnetic Field Therapy

From blocking pain to healing bone and even nerve regeneration, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is used for a wide range of applications, with no nasty side effects. Originally used on horses, PEMF is now also used on smaller animals and even birds, to help speed up recovery and regeneration by optimising cellular functioning and blood flow. Different frequencies have different healing effects on the body and are applied accordingly.

Crystal Healing

Crystal therapy is an ancient healing system where various types of healing crystals are precisely placed on the body and in the surrounding room to bring about spiritual, emotional and physical well-being. Where conventional healing focuses on one symptom, crystal healing takes a more holistic approach by treating the animal as a sensitive, soul being.

Herbal Medicine

The oldest form of medicine known, herbal drugs have a distinct advantage over artificially manufactured pharmaceuticals – which are in fact usually based on herbs! Where modern technology has allowed us to identify many constituents of the whole plant, many more are yet to be identified. In the “whole” herbal form, they contain chemicals that are already in balance and very often the combinations naturally counteract many of the side effects that are found in the purified pharmaceutical drugs. They are therefore deemed to be “safer” than pharmaceutical drugs, if used in the correct manner by sufficiently trained herbalists.
